Bullitt's Winery & Bistro

Clinton(my ride or wine) and I stumbled upon Bullitt's one of the many federal holidays we were off more than a year ago. Have I mentioned how thankful I am for my career?! Side note: #blessed

Clint and I were venturing around Bullitt County and one of the local wineries told us about Bullitt's and their amazing house made marinara. And us being the carb, wine and pasta lovers we are, knew we just had to check it out. Bullitt's is perfectly located in the heart of Bardstown. Bardstown is known for the surrounding distilleries. But let me just tell you, wine lover or not; Bullitt's does not disappoint!

The hospitality is similar to that of Cheers. Everybody knows your name. Or maybe they just love me ;-) There isn't a single wine of theirs that I don't personally enjoy. Their Blackberry is delicious for sweet wine lovers and we could easily finish several bottles in one sitting without realizing it. You know why? Because it's all that smooth. Even their drier wines like the Old Vine Zinfandel. One of my new favorites might I add. Did I mention they have truffles made with their wine for purchase? They are amazing!!! I have to convince myself that they are sold out so that I don't overindulge. P.S. Truffles are my favorite. Wine truffles are heaven. Champagne truffles will also do.

Last March, I hosted Heather's birthday gathering there. The co-owner, Ross, was happy to accommodate us and provided more than enough space for us to be not only comfortable but also have enough privacy for our large group. I'm not sure if Heather was happier about the party itself, the truffles or the sangria. All of which were pretty spectacular if I do say so myself. Please ignore all the empty glasses and plates. We tasted all that Bullitt has to offer that day. Which brings me to my next topic. The menu.

The birthday girl is holding the sign and yours truly is front and center :-) Clint is on my right.

I am a pizza snob. Thanks Giordano's! But seriously. I loveLOVElove some deep dish pizza. I'm all about the carbs. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I'm more likely to quit men than I am to quit carbs. Fact! But Bullitt's is a gamechanger. They have the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. EVER. Their sauce has me convinced that you could put that on anything like Frank's Red Hot sauce. Their portions are ridiculous. Like we always end up with far more leftovers than we need. Even when we split food. Which just means you have more room and money for their delectable wines.

Exhibit A. See below photo of the infamous Subzilla. Please note Clint has many different outfits he just purchases 156523023 of the same things. He has a walk-in closet full in fact. And yes, ladies he IS on the market. HAHAHA!

One night we were being extremely indecisive as we often (always is probably more fitting) are and Ross was kind enough to tell us about this wonder. The meatballs are already the size of a baseball. This is an entire loaf of French bread. Covered in the BEST pizza sauce. I've told him he needs to bottle it. For selfish reasons obviously. Not to mention covered in mozzarella!

But wait...… There's more. Bullitt's is moving next door to a new and improved location. They are easily tripling their current square footage. Stay tuned. I plan on covering the opening :)

Heartbreak is your dog waiting patiently for the arrival that will never come and refusing to sleep anywhere other than on his pillow...
