On Wednesday December 26th, 2018 I hosted a party and invited my closest friends to taste exclusively Kentucky wines and holiday pairings. I used the form attached below. Unfortunately, no one made it past wine tasting number eight. I provided a variety of chocolates, fruits, cheeses, nuts, bread, crackers, prosciutto, pepperoni and salami.
Honestly, I felt as though I was the only one interested in pairing anything with wine. So I will be scheduling a do-over soon. Not many showed up due to it being the day after Christmas. But I am so very appreciative of those that did. My friends and co-workers have been so very supportive during this new endeavor. I want to thank each and every one of you for your words of encouragement and support.
Also, none of this could've been possible with help from Eddie O'Daniel of Springhill Winery. For those of you that don't know, it was Eddie who first supported my marketing ideas and suggestions for Kentucky Wines and pushed me to start this blog. Sadly, Eddie passed the morning after this party was hosted rather unexpectedly. Two weeks prior he was injured in an ATV accident. I had been in contact with Mary Ann at Springhill and expected him to recover despite the fact that he had a long road ahead. I was lost and crushed to hear of his passing. I even considered deleting my blog and moving on. But I know that's not what Eddie would want and if for no other reason, I'll do this in his honor.

The top contenders were Wines 3, 4 and 6 amongst my guests. One of them even took Wine 6 home with them. My personal favorites were wines 1, 7, 10 and 11. Some of my guests suggested Wine 1 be paired with Gingerbread which was not provided at the party. Maybe they were still in the Christmas spirit? Haha.
Because the results weren't conclusive, stay tuned for another wine and pairings blog :
